Summer usually provides deals on inkjet printers to make space for the new autumn model releases. This year there is a large list of printer price reductions and sale items.
Why are there so many printer offers at the moment? Are manufacturers struggling to sell last years models?
Not surprisingly in a cost of living crisis consumers prioritise how they spend their money. An inkjet printer may well be a useful and often necessary peripheral, but paying for food and shelter takes preference.
Factors that have previously influenced printer owners to upgrade, for example deteriorating print quality, are not prompting so many upgrades. In these cases owners may be sticking with their current model, even if it involves unblocking the print heads.
Did you know that some new print heads for older printers can be purchased for surprisingly low prices? So if you have an older printer lying around, maybe it could be brought back to life?
Certain factors can signal the end of a printers life, making a printer purchase essential. If the power supply fails (dead printer), or a Windows upgrade means that there is no longer a working driver available, then it may be time to look for a new model.

Missed Opportunity - Canon Pixma TS6351a no longer on sale!
If you do not require a scanner or a copying function then I would recommend either a Canon Pixma TS705a Inkjet printer or an Epson Expression XP-55 Photo printer. Both offer very good print quality. The Canon Pixma TS705a uses 580/581 cartridges. Compatible and refillable cartridges are now available. The Epson XP-55 is an older model and uses 6x Epson 24 series ink cartridges. Compatible and Refillable cartridges are available also.
Sadly if you require a scanning/copying facility then I am struggling to find a printer that ticks all of the boxes. The search will continue!
